ITALY

My country

Italy is a country in Southern Europe, located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. It shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, San Marino, and Vatican City. Italy covers an area of 301,340 km2 and has a largely temperate seasonaland Mediterranean climate. With around 61 million inhabitants, it is the fourth-most populous EU member state and the most populous country in southern Europe. Italian is the official language spoken by the majority of the population, but as you travel throughout the country you will find that there are several distinct Italian dialects depending on the region you're in. Italy is famous for its delicious cuisine, trendy fashions, luxury sports cars and motorcycles, diverse regional cultures and dialects, as well as for its various landscapes from the seas to the Alps and Apennines, which makes reason for its nickname Il Bel Paese (the Beautiful Country). There are hundreds of Italian cities and the most famous are: Rome (the capital), Naples, Bologna, Venice, Florence, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Pica, Palermo, Cagliari, etc

My city

Naples is the regional capital of Campania and the third-largest municipality in Italy after Rome and Milan. In 2018, around 967,069 people lived within the city's administrative limits while its province-level municipality has a population of 3,115,320 residents. First settled by Greeks in the second millennium BC, Naples is one of the oldest continuously inhabited urban areas in the world. Naples' historic city centre is the largest in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a wide range of culturally and historically significant sites nearby, including the Palace of Caserta and the Roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Naples is also known for its natural beauties such as Posillipo, Phlegraean Fields, Nisida, and Vesuvius.

Naples is internationally famous for its cuisine and wine: pizza, spaghetti, gelato, babà, sfogliatella, zeppole; and wine: wineries in the Vesuvius area produce wines such as the Lacryma Christi and Terzigno. Naples is also the home of limoncello, a popular lemon liqueur.

It has had significant influence on Italian cinema. Because of the significance of the city, many films and television shows are set in Naples. In addition to serving as the backdrop for several movies and shows, many talented celebrities (actors, actresses, directors, and producers) are originally from the city of Naples.
